Re: QUESTION about BITS

I want to second Lance's recommendations. I use mostly solid carbide from Whiteside bits for 90% of my cutting I use their 60V, 1/8" & 1/4" end mills in 1/4 shank. I also use a 1/16" ballnose carving bit that I got from Sears that was intended for their CarveWright system.

Re: Holders for other routers

Had a request to post the EPS version of the vectors for anyone that can't read the V-carve file: Router Mounts.eps The two large rings close in size are the Boch Colt (outer) and Dewalt 611 (inner). The other rings in the center of the mount are for making the mount extension that I use to lower th...

Re: Holders for other routers

Several folks ask me to post the CRV file for my router mount with the probe extension. Here it is: Shark_Router_Mounts.crv Note that there's a cut path for both the Bosch Colt & the Dewalt 611. If you run both you'll end up with a Bosch mount since its bigger than the Dewalt. I use 1" pocket screw ...

Re: Help the Newb with Vcarve Pro 2D- 2.5D Capability questi

It looks like this can all be done with V-Carve but do to the inability to manipulate the graphic I'm not 100% sure on the curved slot. If its just a strait cut with roundover bit then you should be okay. If its a rounded bottom with a single straight side that could be more difficult.

Re: Stepper Motor quit

Which version of the Shark to you have? If you have a basic or pro the Molex connectors (white plastic connectors that go between the controller and the shark) can go bad. I used to have one axis quit all the time and since I've replaced all my connectors I haven't had a problem. I wasn't as lucky a...

Re: New Shark Pro HD

If you're wanting the photographic image photoVcarve will do that. If you're wanting a 3D representation of the photographc that gets a little more complicated and not something I have any experience with. If you're wanting to carve line-drawings, etc. VCarve can do that will a little effort.

Re: CUT2D AND CNC SHARK COMPATIBILITY

When I was having trouble getting my Shark to go exactly where I wanted it to I tried adjusting the Path Control Mode. That's the line near the top starting with G64. It basically helps the machine run smoother by telling it what tollerance you're willing to allow in the cut paths. I tested the adju...

Re: Carving Text

Whiteside Machine Company sells a "Carving Liner" bit tha is ~20 degrees.

I picked up one at Woodcraft for doing detail lettering.

Re: potential buyer

I'm not sure what the exact requirements are but the Shark itself does not require much computing horsepower. The demo units at the store are running on low end little notebooks. They seem to be pretty responsive about dealing with problems. Learning and understanding the computer side of this seems...
