I've updated to Win10 and Aspire 8.0 and VCarve 7.5 both work fine. My Controller is on another machine with Windows Vista so I can't speak to that.

Firmware or registration number? If it is asking for a registration number then check your old emails you got from NextWave. The new version should work with the old number. If you can't find it then your best bet is to call/email nextWave support.

It looks to me like that V-groove started and stopped at the same point, but simply wasn't at the same depth when started. V-Bits get dull pretty easy, and a dull one won't plunge well.
