Tapered Drawplate hole

Post by rgreen105 »

I was asked by a possible customer if it was possible in Aspire to create a tapered round hole.

Stock Thickness (and hole depth): 5/8"
Top diameter: 5/8"
Bottom Ddiameter 1/2"

I saw the note on using 2 rail sweeps to do a beveld Rectangular hole for a keyed wedge, but I'm looking for a round hole with a tapered diameter.

Thanks for your time.

Richard,
Do you mean, like this?

I used VCarve with the fluting toolpath to taper the hole.

ok I found the tapered flute in the help and obviously missed something... What was the vector you used to produce the hole? Using a circle turned out like this:

Rgreen,
Picture a wheel with a whole bunch of spokes. The individual cutting paths start at the top of rim and go down straight to the bottom of the hub. So instead of one continuous line, there are a hundred very short ones next to each other. The cutting paths just taper downward really fast! You will have to play with the "rim " and "hub" diameters to allow for the diameter of the cutting bit.
