Hi all,
Just viewed an interesting video on thread cutting.

Would this be possible on our sharks?

Not easy to clamp the vertical block without some clever modifications to the standard Shark table bed. Other than that using VCarve Pro, the fluting tool path option, the same bits shown in the video, and some calculating the internal thread cutting would be possible. Doing the external threads would depend on clamping, similar calculations, and the same bits.

It also shouldn't be too tough to create a gadget add-on for VCarve to simplify the toolpath calculations.

As for the 4th axis external thread cutting there is a pseudo-4th axis attachment created and improved by forum members that would enable this, and toolpathing should be simpler in that case.

Now, wouldn't that just be the ant's pant to be able to thread new HDPE nuts for the Shark?
My Z axis nut's base broke yesterday.
Cheers
