Beehive plans

Post by Rackheads »

We are getting our 1st hive next year and hopefully more the following year once we learn the ropes of beekeeping. Since we have this wonderful machine we'd like to use it to make our own beehives. So far I can't find any plans online but I know they have to be out there somewhere. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can find the dimensions for different types of hives at this link - http://www.beesource.com/build-it-yourself/. I'm a beekeeper and don't use the Shark to cut the panels or the finger joints - although you certainly could. I think Bob has a post on 'non-traditional' joints - which are also more appropriate for cnc work.

Another handy, and recently published reference, is Building Beehives for Dummies. Perhaps the most complete set of dimensions and tips and traps in one place.
