Department of the Navy and Department of the Army seal

Post by Oliver399 »

Hello, I'm brand new to CNC so please talk to me like I'm two years old. :) I'm currently building some veteran's flag cases with bases that have the seal of the veteran's branch of military they served in. My first carving was the Marine Corps seal from the Department of Defense website. It was already in an .eps file and carved very well with a little bit of work in Vcarve. The Navy and the Army seals from that site are a wreck! When I load them into the program it won't calculate a toolpath. I tried cutting out a bunch of the overlapping lines but it still is a mess. I have also have tried black and white pictures from other "vector" websites and have had the same issues. So my question is can someone either share a vector file that works or if someone out there might have some insight as to what I'm doing wrong with the seals I've imported. Thanks!

Here is the Army file I've been working with. I have tried to trim many of the overlapping lines. As I trim these lines is there something else I need to do with the remaining lines? Please forgive me if I seem overwhelmed and totally uneducated at this. I have tried to find what I'm dealing with in the vetric tutorials, either I cant find it or I've watched it and don't understand what I'm looking at.

These are great! Thank you! How do I make the individual vectors able to be selected? Thank you.
