Tiling toolpath

Post by Iceman567 »

I am making a sign out of 7/8" cedar. The sign blank size is 19" X 32". The actual sign size will be an oval 18" X 30".
Everything is designed and I set up the tiling toolpath for two 15" tiles along the 'Y' axis. The question is how do I re-align the sign blank, once I move it along the Y axis, to cut the other 'tile'? Or am I not thinking this through correctly?
Thanks for the help.

Fix a fence along the Y-axis to be sure that you don't change your X0.
Make a mark on you fence and your piece in a way that you can slide your piece exactly 15".
Don't change your X0 and your Y0 when your slide your piece.

It's the way I do it :)

If you want another test to be sure you move it correctly, drill a simple hole with a V bit 0.25 deep in the waste part of the piece, at X=0.5 and Y=16.5 for example. Check with the same bit if the hole is at X=0.5 and Y=1.5 after moving your piece.

I'll try the hole with the 'v' bit. Thanks.
I'll post a pic when it's completed.
