Area not cutting

Post by MarkB611 »

Hello,
I am a newbie and I'm having troubles with my design cutting. I have 2 cutting paths one for the missile and one for the 2 rings. I have included my cutting paths in the 1st image and the actual cut in the second. Any help would be appreciated. This is in VCarve Pro.

I've circled the areas in red in the 2nd image that is not cutting????

Logo fits in a 4" sq and is carved in Corian using a V bit, 90deg 1/2"

thanks,
Mark

I would guess that your material surface isn't perfectly flat and the bit is losing contact at those areas.

Thanks. Makes sense. This is my 1st carve in Corian and I thought the front surface is manufactured flat. I will try sanding the surface and try again. Thanks for your response.

On critical jobs where there is a lot of fine detail I setup a surfacing program to bring the surface flat to the cutting plane of the machine. Sanding the surface off of the machine won't necessarily help if you don't get the surface flat to the cutting plane of the machine.

Take a look at my spoil board instructions in the "Show off your Projects" topic.
