Squeak type noise on Z axis plunge

Post by janz »

When the cutter is going down and close to table is makes a sound like a dry hinge.
Is there something that needs lubrication like the screw? Black Diamond. Otherwise
running good.

Yes, put some silicone lube on the screw and the shafts, jog it up and down a few times and the squeak should be gone.

Is there any certain type? Spray or tube applicator. I have the pure silicone spray lube.

Next Wave sells a spray brand on their web store. I just use one I found in Home Depot. They are all pretty much the same. Clean the threads and shafts with compressed air or vacuum to remove any dust. Use the aerosol can to spray the parts or spray on a rag and apply. Run it up and down a few times and reapply if the squeak is still there. The spray will leave a thin coating. Don't use a gel or grease type that will attract dust. You should do this on each axis frequency depending on usage.

Thanks for the reply. Used the spray and squeak stopped. Now to see how long before it starts again.
