Junk posts

Group:
It appears that we are being invaded with garbage!
Looks like these people join the group and 1 minute
latter start posting. Can any of this be virus-ridden?
Can anything be done?

Jim,

What you can do is NEVER click on any of the links, and report the posts to the moderators.

On the right top of the post you'll see a small triangle like a warning sign. Click it and it will automatically report the posting.

Jim,

On the bright side, it is a sign that the forum is more visible on the search engines!

For what it's worth, I've sent an email to Al Wolford, one of the moderators. While it is interesting that search engines are finding it, I agree it shouldn't happen. Al did respond on Friday to remove the first 2 - one of which was just straight porn.

I also reported difficulty with PM function - I don't know if anyone else is experiencing this or noticed it.

FWIW keeping the riff-raff at bay starts with the registration procedure i.e. no automatic sign-ups.
From personal experience - yes, I run a hobby forum ;) - I know that having more than the basic phpBB routine in place takes care of that.

PS to the above: It would be nice if the admin and/or the moderators would get rid of the SPAM posts and change the phpBB settings to prevent this nonsense. One way to do it without a lot of additional work and no clutter to the rest of the forum is designating a "Introduction Forum" where newcomers can post first questions and their intro. That will quickly sort the spammers from those who are interested in the CNC Shark.
Cheers

Either way the Moderator can remove the posts
on an ASAP basis
they have been told and reported and they still exist
I'm confused
Maybe we need to impose a SHARK BITE on these posters

I have done clean-up work and banned some users.
I will be more diligent in my police work for the forum in the future.
Thanks to everyone who helped bring the matter to my attention!
This forum is such a great resource for all users and people who are interested in the Sharks that I want to keep everything clean and relevant.
