Can the standard 4th axis (or the VCarve software) be set up to handle a work piece that tapers from larger to smaller diameter?

I don't have the hardware for this nor have I done it. But I have seen 4th axis videos on youtube that have Aspire / Vcarve videos doing this. If my memory is correct. I didn't tag them but look on youtube for them.
