Looking for some help as to which bit would be the best to carve in sterling silver . Have never ventured into anything beyond wood, but I am about too. Don't mean to bother you all but don't want to waste a lot of money on nothing either. Thanks
Tim

Sorry nobody stepped up yet, so I'll take a try:

Can you give us more information about what you're trying to make in sterling, and how big?
An engraving on an existing piece?
An engraving on a flat metal plaque?
Machine a figure/trinket out of a solid block?

I'm not familiar with even what forms/sizes sterling is purchased in, sorry.

We'll figure out something for ya....

If your thinking engraving, a diamond drag bit would be my choice.
