Everything cuts backwards

Post by MikeR »

Can someone tell me why my shark cuts backwards(mirror) from what I see on the screen? I have to flip everything in mirror mode (horizontally) then save it before I carve. Gets confusing sometimes. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Thanks... Mike

Mike,

Is it backwards in just X, just Y, or both?

I am guessing from your description that it is only in X. Is this a new issue, or has it always done this?

Does it jog correctly, or is that backwards too? When you jog using the directional buttons on the keyboard, the right button should jog the head from left to right.

My first guess would be that a couple wires are crossed. Look closely at the connectors for the effected axis, and see if the wire colors match going in and out of the connector. It is possible that the issue is there, but it might be wired to the board wrong too.

Is the 'Y' axis drive motor pointing to the front of the machine? If not the gantry is installed backwards. Turn the gantry around and have the 'Y' motor facing the front of the machine.Common assembly error.
I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

I have mine set up "backwards" on purpose. I switched the X & Y cables.
This way with a sign say 12" high by 18" long it carves the way as I see it
on the computer. To me it makes sense and I can make longer carves.
It is also easier to jog because it is set the same way as the panel screen.
my 2 cents ;)
