Manual for the water cooled spindle

Post by CharliesWoodStuff »

I've looked on NWA site. No mention of a downloadable manual. And the manual that came with it makes no mention about the settings and adjustments.

I haven't powered it on yet (the plastic nipple to the pump is broken and I'm waiting for a replacement), so I don't know if the speed settings are self explanatory.

Any help out there?

Here you go.
The settings should all be set already. The manual does show some things to change if this isn't the case. Mine was all fine. Just run it through the speed range min to 24k max a few times to make sure it is working properly.

Thank you! I've downloaded it and will read it later.

I'm going to ASSume that the Variable Frequency Driver (VFD) has arrived with proper settings.

This is adding to an old post but I was wondering if anyone with the water cooled spindle has the the VFD settings? I looked at the document posted and I have the manual for the inverter. I have the 110v-1.5kw inverter and spindle. When I started up the spindle these were my results from Hi to Low
Rev max - 15,633 RPM, 83.1 amp, 260.6 Hz.
Rev low - 7200 RPM, 46 amp, 120 Hz.

My PD settings:
0 -0
1 - 1
2 - 1
3 - 400
4 - 400
5 - 400
6 - 2.5
7 - 20
8 - 120
9 - 15
10 - 8
11 - 120
14 - 12
15 - 12
70 - 1

72 - 400
73 - 120
141 - 120
142 - 7.0
143 - 2
144 - 3000

Went thru settings again and apparently the setting I listed are correct. I found PD070 was set at 0 instead of 1. I made the change and was able to get to 24,000 RPM. The other issue I had was the wiring for the U,V,W spindle connections. I went with the standard connections that was listed on this website U-1, V-2, W-3. The spindle ran in reverse. Swapped a couple of wires and that didn't fix it. The combination that worked is U-3, V-1, W-2. Don't know why it would be different.
