Shark Pro Plus Enclosure "Shark Tank"

Post by BillK »

I saw many of your dust enclosures on this forum and decided to finally build mine and now to share it here.

I got a hold of an old drafting table for free as they aren't being used too much anymore. Its sitting on top of a crate used to ship heavy metal parts that I reinforced with 2x4's and added casters too. All that was salvaged.

The top is 1x3 with 18x24 plexiglass on 3 sides. 3/4" plywood on top and back with 2 piano hinges. Two small magnetic catches to help hold the door closed.

Harley Davidson handle just because we can.

Dust collection through two 2" holes in the back corners piped to the front with a blastgate connection to a 4" hose. Works great! Blow the dust to the back with compressed air after the cutting is done.

The top will fold back flat and the back comes off for long pieces.

I agree, great name! I may just have to cut a nameplate for mine too.

These enclosures just keep getting better. New ideas in almost every one. Great work.

Here's a few details on the shark tank design. A few have asked for more info, plans. I think these will get you there.

I just cannot believe the difference in noise levels with the door open and closed.
With the front door down, the Shark is just humming merrily along, a domestic vacuum cleaner makes more noise than the Shark.
Great design.
Thanks Bill.
Cheers

I found that it was too difficult to clean the rear of the tank with only the front door hinged,(I am only short stuff :D ) so I added 2 piano hinges to the back. One on the top and one half way down.
I added braces at the top of the frame.
Now I can lift both the front and the back up for cleaning plus, I can lift the lower flap for longer pieces.
To add stability I drilled holes through the doors/tops and into the frame. I inserted dowels for the holes to fit onto.
It is now as solid as a rock even with a door lifted.

Hi Wolffie
I just posted about my Shark Tank. It is very similar to yours. I do not have pictures of it yet. That is funny. I think my post went up a min. before yours. I should be so lucky and win the lottery.

Looks Great, will have to build one soon. Would really like to cut done on the noise level and helping keep the shop cleaner will not hurt.
