Software to view finished projects?

Post by rusty »

I am using the Vectric Aspire software that came with my Shark Pro. It's great for what it does but when I am making a project, like say a simple box, I want to be able to see more than the six pieces laying flat. I would like to use some software that will allow me to virtually put the six parts together so I can see what it will look like assembled and perhaps to take a Jpeg snapshot to show a potential customer what the finished product will look like.

I've look at some CAD programs but they look like overkill and with such a big learning curve. And I've tried Google's Sketchup but I can't import my pieces from Aspire.

Any suggestions would be welcomed.

Here's what I do using the two programs you just mentioned.

Save the preview image in Aspire from he Z view for each flat panel.

Create your finished product in Sketchup. Import the jpeg preview images that you saved from Aspire and place them on the corresponding faces on your Sketchup model. It's not perfect, but it definitely a good visual for the customer.

Thanks Billk. I'm trying that now. I didn't even realize I could import raster graphics into Sketchup like that.
