Router Bits for CNC

Post by allenj »

Very new to CNC and would appreciate some help getting started.

Using 9mm MDF for Dollhouse doors, I want to cut out windows 8 x 15cm. Please can someone suggest the appropriate bit to use. I am using a Bosch Router.

Regards

All you need is a endmill that is smaller than your vectors you are cutting. Here is an example. There are upcut, down cut and compression types. Just look for the 1/4" shank and that it is long enough to cut the thickness of material that you wish to cut. If you haven't used MDF before then be warned, it put off a lot of dust. A dust boot or enclosure is recommended. Just search for similar bits to what is in the link and you'll be fine. You can try different ones and find which works best for you.

I've been looking for router bits too. I'm wondering if any one has found a better price on the 1/8" ball nose tapered bit that next wave offers. Shipping the bit from next wave is more than the bit is worth.
