Eagle Scout plaque

Post by BillK »

Hi There.

I carved this project in Azek as it will be mounted outdoors in a park. I have had good luck with Azek as it carves well and holds up to the elements.

I designed the Boy Scout fleur model a few years ago and was glad to get to use it again.

My painting technique includes cutting through contact paper for the lettering then spraying with black ink. Overspray then with Rustoleum metallic bronze, followed by a Matt clear acrylic. Note paint the screws at the same time.

Thanks!

Thanks Joe. The bronze metallic gave kind of a glossy texture which highlighted some surface defects on the Azek. The Matt finish overspray does a good job of toning that down and hiding the defects. The black ink helps with small letters like these.
