DeWalt 618 Hot Collet

Post by Sandow12 »

Anyone with a DeWalt 618 does the collet get pretty hot? After routing a 10 to 15 min the collet gets very hot to the touch. This is a new router just installed last week.

A cutting bit can also generate a lot of heat as it gets dull. It may still appear to do a good job, and not heat enough to burn the wood. But, it can still get hot. That heat is transmitted to the collet. Improper feeds and speeds can also generate heat.
