Glad I could help, Gordon.
I'd love it of you would post photos of yours when it is finished. Especially if you include any improvements.

Not sure if that is what you were looking for, but it allows me to cut on 2 or 3 or 4 or more sided parts by pulling a pin, rotating the stock, then replacing a pin. Indexing plate cut on my Shark is the key.

Re: Let's see your vice!
I also use a low profile drill press vise when I need to CNC a small part. I've also used a wood screw clamp to hold parts, then use the Rockler clamps to hold this wood clamp to the bed: https://www.google.com/search?newwindow=1&safe=off&hl=en&site=imghp&tbm=isch&source=hp&biw=1425&bih=899&q=wood+s...

Re: The SET button
Very true, Lee. The SET button also opens up other strategies for homing the router bit. Aligning the center of an end mill to an x you have drawn in what you think is the middle of a board is a fairly wild guess. Instead you can align the outer tip of the bit to your mark, then use SET and enter 1/...

Re: Used black diamond value?
NextWave hasn't been making CNCs for 9 years as far as I can tell. Diamonds were a single year special edition with diamond plate panels instead of flat aluminum. So I'd guess it at most is 3 years old.. The earliest models came with MDF beds, a two-part controller/power supply, and could only suppo...

Re: Aspire / VCarve Pro resizing entire project
Both VCarve and Aspire have a "Set Select Objects Size" option under Transform Objects. In Aspire it is the second icon from the left under that menu heading.

Re: mach 3, a shark and a guy walk into a bar...
Yes, Mach 3 can support many features, but the Sharks don't come with limit/home switches, 4th(extra $$) 5th and 6th axis, etc.... so unless you are going to soup up your Shark then its controller will run the Sharks fine. The biggest advantage IMO of the other controller options is that they typica...

Re: circle problem
What bit are you using? With the flex in the router mount I've seen bits, especially v-bits and downcut spiral bits push up as they move forward or the grain direction changes. Upcut spiral bits will pull down as they move forward and more or less depending on feed speed and grain density. If the de...

Re: circle problem
If you have a digital caliper, measure the board to see if it is the same thickness all the way around. If the board is flat, check your spoilboard for the same. If not using a spoil board measure carefully if the gantry backplate is the same height from the table on both left and right sides. Then ...
