Cutting Clock Hands

We are making a new case for a 1920s vintage New Haven Regulator clock. It originally had an 11" dial. We are looking to use a 6-7" dial. Unfortunately none of the hands we have found (that we like and are the right size) have the correct hole sizes / shapes for the hands. We are thinking of making our own hands. We have a Shark II and are thinking we can cut thin aluminum hands. Has anyone had experience / luck with cutting small aluminum pieces like clock hands?
