Burl Bowl

Post by BillK »

This was the forum that got me hooked on CNC carving, so I keep posting here and hope some of you will also.

I bought this chunk of Cherry burl at a sawmill this fall, not knowing really what to do with it, but I’ve spent $10 on other things in that category so what the heck.

Finally decided to make a bowl with three sections. I use Aspire, but I did a lot of this on the iPad, creating a bitmap that I converted to vectors in Aspire.

Here are the results. You can make a lot of nice things with wood that’s kind of run of the mill. You can also find a beautiful pice of wood, but might be limited to what you can make with it.
