Hi Tony,
That turned out nicely. I hate to question your process but since I'm not doing acrylics yet I am still trying to learn. You stated .002 deep with the ball nose bit. Was that a typo? Seems like .002" didn't sound right for something like that.

That is what I used. Sometimes I carve only .001 deep. You only need to scratch the surface of the cast acrylic.Or you can use a diamond bit which some people used for acrylics. I have one but haven't used it yet.

Re: star wars edge lit acrylic
Tony,
This looks great.
I have a question on the cutout pass.
What bit did you use and how did you make your pass?
Was is one pass through the entire acrylic or did you make a few passes?
I have 3/8 inch what do you suggest I try for a cutout pass?
Thanks
Wayne

Wayne, I used a .25 endmill for cutout. For 3/8" acrylic use 3 passes.

Re: star wars edge lit acrylic
ok I guess im doing something wrong.. I downloaded the file opened it up in vcarve pro 8 wanting to look at it and the tool paths but could not see and tool path. So I loaded it up on the shark 2.0 control and I loaded but it runs the cnc machine bigger then the table .. so what am I doing wrong..
Re: star wars edge lit acrylic
The shared file was a dxf, no toolpaths only vectors.
Enjoy!
